Professional headshots in Calgary. Is that what you’re after?
What comes to mind when you think of a “professional” headshot, anyway?
I don’t know why, but I always imagine someone in a power suit, perfectly posed and serious looking…with a cheesy grin. (For the record, I’m not the biggest fan of that kind of professional headshot.)
So when Nicole said to me, “Thank you for making me look professional,” it kind of stopped me in my tracks.
Professional? Really?
But the more I thought of it, the more I realized that my mind’s depiction of a professional headshot is so 1980’s! It’s time to erase it and replace with something more 2024-ish. Something more authentic.
My goal with headshots
My ultimate goal when I capture your headshot is to show the real you.
Yes, I shoot and edit in a way to produce a clean, polished look. But I never want the actual creation or composition of the photo to overpower the most important aspect – you!
The Result
For Nicole’s headshots, we used a couple basic colours for backdrops – black & white – and kept things simple and clean. What do you think? Does she look professional? Most definitely! (in my humble opinion) And she also looks approachable, friendly and like the real her!
