You know that time that you’re pretty sure you took one of the best photos of your life? Well, maybe not the best, but you’re pretty sure you nailed it…?
Any photographer can tell you that taking pictures of their own family is the hardest thing in the world. Not only are your closest family members likely so sick of the camera in their face, but they’re also so used to it being there that they are never really totally natural…it turns into posey stuff.
Normally, my daughter is all about putting on a show for the camera while my husband couldn’t pull out a natural smile if he was paid for it. It’s always the forced “cheeeeese” kind of look. You know what I mean?
Well, imagine the horror I felt when I thought I uploaded the perfect shot. The one where I actually captured a real-life, blissful moment. The one where they were having so much fun, they forgot the camera was there. The one where they looked up at the perfect moment that the camera went “click.” And….
And it’s not in focus. I totally nailed it. Except for the focal point. Yep, it’s the shot that got away. But one I can’t seem to toss away.
And this is what keeps me in the never-ending quest of mastering this life-long craft…
