One year has come and gone, just like that! It’s been such a treat to witness this little one grow.
I’ve taken quite a few pictures of my niece over the past year so I figured I should round it out with First Year photos. And I managed to convince Chandra to get in a few shots as well (sorry that Frank wasn’t there that day)!
The first year is a such a special time for the whole family. Filled with lots of laughs, smiles, tears, tired eyes… So I wanted to capture a little of that from a mother’s point of view…and here’s what she said:
What the photos mean to me
The photos mean an incredible amount to me as they capture moments in time that will never return.
They are moments that I can look back on and remember what it was like when she was so small. What it was like to spend that mat leave time together. What it was like to just watch her in awe.
I can look back at the photos and memories will flood me of that time. What she liked, what we did together, what her personality was like. They are a time capsule of memories.
Each time I look at the photos, new memories emerge and new smiles fill my heart. The photos to me are priceless as they represent a monumental time in my life that will never return.
Thoughts on the first year
I wish I could freeze this first year.
The year where we learned it was a girl when she was born.
The year where my heart overfilled with love and joy.
The year of learning the new me, the new family life and partnership with my husband.
The year of watching all the milestones and the one-on-one time.
The year of watching my husband become a Dad, the year of amazement and awe we felt at this little person that has blessed our life.
Thoughts on becoming a mother
What I love about being a mother is that she reminds me that life is a gift and life is wonderful.
She reminds me to see more of the little things that exist all around.
I love seeing her learn new things everyday, seeing all the firsts and watching her unfold into the little person she is.
What I find challenging is balancing all the aspects of me, ie., Mom, wife, teacher and being able to give my all to all those aspects.
