This girl of ours, she loves to paint. I didn’t try to push her down the crafty road – I promise! – but secretly I’m breathing a sigh of relief that I can share my love of the art world with her.
Actually, I’m just breathing a sigh of relief that my copious amounts of craft supplies will actually get used as opposed to collecting dust in the basement. Anyone else have an addiction to buying art supplies and then never quite getting around to actually using them? That could be a whole other post.
But the funny thing is, as much as this girl loves painting and experimenting with supplies like a toddler would, she hates it when her hands get messy! It’s so funny to watch.
On one hand she just wants to get right in there…slushing her fingers through the handmade glue. But then she realizes that her hands are sticky and wants to get it off.
I’m quickly realizing that the set-up and clean-up take up about 90% of the effort…the actual crafting itself is over in the blink of an eye. Seth Godin was talking about something similar today…maybe that’s why it didn’t drive me so crazy. Everyone’s in the same boat. It’s all part of the beautiful mess.
