Newborn photos – where do they take place?

I do all of my newborn photos at home. YOUR home, that is! After a baby comes, most people aren’t into doing much…except laying low and getting some baby cuddles in!

I love witnessing siblings around their new brother or sisters. And I find that they’re so relaxed in their own environment; their own home.

It’s so precious how gentle and loving they are with their new real-life doll! 🙂 And they’re always so amazed at how tiny their little toes are…amazing that they were once that size too!

When should photos take place?

Newborn photos are done in the comfort of your own home, about 7-10 days after your baby’s birth (if you want the “sleepy baby” pictures). Otherwise, they can be done within the first couple weeks. That’s the beauty of lifestyle newborn photography. You get to call the shots! Of course, babies will have more awake times the older they get…so it just depends on the look and feel that you’re going for.

2018 Preschool Photos are hot off the presses! I’ve been busy dotting my “i’s” and crossing my “t’s” to make sure that I get all the orders correct – cause, woman, there are a lot of them!

I’ve been so totally blown away by the feedback this year.

Thanks parents – it means the world to me to know that the photos I take of your child are a true reflection of their personality.

This is something I take very seriously, by the way. I totally get that not everyone wants their (or their child’s) photo online. It’s your decision to make – no questions asked. And I respect that by double and triple checking each and every order form I receive.

Headshots are so awesome when done outdoors, in my opinion!

Although, in Calgary, we are somewhat limited as winter takes up about 75% of the year, lol! I guess that’s why photographers have studios, right? In-studio headshots have a time and place, of course, but sometimes it’s nice to go for a casual and outdoor setting.

Here’s a “throw back” to when the grass was green, when there were leaves on the trees…and sunsets were golden.

Ok, I guess we can still have golden sunsets year round…

But I’m glad we got these in when we did! Photos were taken at one of my favourite spots in Fish Creek Park.

Fish Creek is one of my go-tos for headshots for a couple reasons: It’s close to my house – I guess I’m selfish like that, haha! I also love the variety we can get by visiting different parts of the park. It’s such a vast area, so there’s really so many options.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jean at a B-School event organized by Amy Porterfield (with special guest Marie Forleo, of course). It was a weekend filled with inspiration and great conversation with like-minded women entrepreneur, mixed with some business and brand photos, too!

Jean and I zipped out to capture some images of her that she could use for her website and social media.

The weather was perfect and we found this nice little natural setting just a hop and a skip from the hotel that we were staying at. I suppose the weather is always gorgeous in California, though, right?!
