When I first got into photography, I used to just take pictures of flowers and mountains - because, for the most part, they don't move!
It wasn't until a friend pushed me out of my comfort zone and asked me to take pics of her newborn that my "people photography" business was born. The rest is history!
For over 10 years you've welcomed me into your lives - for family photos, newborn photos, new home photos, school photos...
And now that I've experienced first-hand what it is to grow a creative business, I love capturing business & brand photos for like-minded, and creative, women entrepreneurs.
I’ve always been creative. But I didn't really know which direction I wanted to go with it.
About 15 years ago, I embarked on a journey to “find my thing.”
I became obsessed with art retreats - they were full of creatives like me!
I dabbled in encaustics, oil paint, mixed media… Until one day I found myself at a Flora Bowley workshop in San Francisco. (so amazing!)
Mind blown by her art, but feeling stifled at my canvas, I picked up my camera. I wandered around taking pictures of colourful canvases, dripping brushes and paint-covered hands.
It wasn’t until I got home from that trip (with more photos than finished art) that I realized: “OMG. I’m not a painter. I'm a photographer!”
Sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious to us after all. But it's there. That inner knowing. That nudge for more.
The important thing is that we keep pushing forward to figure it out. You never know what might be waiting for you on the other side of the lens.
at home
It's so hard to take photos of your own family! I debated about sharing one of the outtakes instead - they are hilarious! Yes, these two keep me entertained for hours on end.
for 17hats
I'd be lost without 17hats! (my biz management software) If you want to organize, streamline & automate your small business, too, drop me a line! I'd be happy to chat.
makes me happy
We've pretty much got a Michael's store in our basement. Good thing our girl is crafty! Cause she puts my "one day maybe" art supplies to good use. But I love to join her.
